The Day I Got My Navel Pierced

15 October 2011 8:26:43 PM

Ok so the story is the day I got my navel pierced when really it was my bestie, her mums real layed back and stuff and let her get it done, she showed me at school the next day, it was so cool, it was pink and made her look really nice, I’m currently trying to convince my mum to let me get mine done (she still refuses) I’m getting my friend a ring for hers for christmas, that’s what I’m doing on this site. Also at school for some dumb reason about bieng happy with who you are the teachers are picked different sized people and got them to show of their bellies, the teachers almost screamed when they saw my friends piercing and all the gyes were hooting!!! Anyway any tips on convincing mum, I’m underage so I can’t just get it done:( luv ya all :)

My wife was a Girl Scout leader for over 10 years and over that time the girls in her troop became part of our family. Many times they would come to my wife and I with issues they felt they couldn’t share with their parents and in many ways it seemed like we had 10 daughters. One girl, Stephanie, was quite a handful. She was smart and funny but also had a wild streak. More than a few times she found herself in trouble, mainly as the result of harmless pranks but there was an incident or two where she stole from friends. Well this young lady was the product of a broken home. She lived with her mom who was pretty strict but spent time with her dad who was more lenient especially when it came to things that might annoy his ex-wife. Well when Stephanie was 13 she was going for a visit with her dad and she told my wife and I she was going to get her navel pierced while she was there. She also volunteered that her mom had expressly forbade her from piercing her navel but that her dad was going to sign the consent anyway. Well my wife and I spent almost an hour trying to talk her out of it. We talked about respect, honesty, honor, and maturity but Stephanie would have none of it. As a last resort, and without really thinking it through I told her if she waited until she was 18 I would also pierce mine and leave it in for a year. She immediately agreed and that was the end of the conversation. I admit I had some regrets as soon as I offered but I reasoned that she was almost 5 years away from turning 18 and that she would never remember or even expect I would really do it. For the next 4 years the subject was never brought up. In all honesty I totally forgot about the conversation until June of 2010. Stephanie was spending the night as a guest of my daughter and took the opportunity to tell me her birthday was coming up in December and that she couldn’t wait for us to get our navels pierced. I was floored. Even though I had forgotten about the promise as soon as she brought it up I remembered the whole conversation. I don’t remember exactly what I said but I think I mentioned something about 6 months and hoped she would forget again. She didn’t. Every time I saw her after that she would bring it up. I started to really worry that I had painted myself into a corner until a funny thing happened. Her birthday came and went and she never mentioned it. I really thought I had dodged a bullet. Fast forward to August of this year. My wife and I decided to celebrate our 20th anniversary in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. We invited our daughter to join us and told her she could invite one friend. She choose Stephanie. At the end of the 8 hour trip to the beach and as we were making the last turn on the road where our beach house was located right there on the corner was a body piercing shop. I instantly knew I was in trouble and almost as quickly Stephanie saw the shop and insisted we could get our piercings while we were here. Well I put it off for the whole week for two reasons, I really didn’t want to do it and my daughter kept telling me I shouldn’t do it. Finally on the last night my daughter, Stephanie and I went to get her navel pierced. I honestly thought I was going to have to let Stephanie down but when we got there I happened to mention to the piercer that I was supposed to get mine pierced as well and she offered to give me the jewelry free if I let her do it. My daughter instantly changed her tune and insisted I had to do it. After giving it some thought I decided she was right. A promise is a promise. So I signed the forms and lay down on the table. The piercer, a nice girl named Mandy, added insult to injury by choosing a dangle ring so I am now the only 45 year old man I know with a pierced navel and a dangle ring. When this first happened I expected I would count the days until I could take it out but the response has been so positive I may just keep it in. :-)

I was sixteen when I decided to get my navel pierced. I found a tattoo and piercing place that was cheap, so I decided to go there. The day I went, I brought my friend with me. When we got to the parlor, the piercer had me pay for the piercing in advance and sign some papers. Then he took me back to the piercing room, leaving my two sisters and my friend out in the waiting room as they were not allowed back there with me. I asked him what happens during the procedure, but he didn’t answer me. I began to get worried because this guy did not seem very friendly. He had me pull my shirt up above my navel, and he began to pinch and massage the toughness out of the skin that was about to be pierced. This part hurt very badly, as he was squeezing my navel very hard. I suppose I am a bit squeamish, because I began to get dizzy from the pain. After I was feeling better, he marked two dots on my navel and had me check in a mirror to make sure they were lined up properly. After I confirmed the position of the piercing, the piercer cleaned my navel and had me sit back on the piercing table. I didn’t get to pick my piercing jewelry, I just got a plain, silver, curved barbell. As the piercer applied the clamps, I asked him if the clamps would hurt more than the piercing itself, and he just said, It depends. Then he unpackaged the needle and smeared it in some gel. As he brought the needle up to my stomach, I lifted my hands to stop it (on instinct), and I was sternly reprimanded and told not to do that. (Not a friendly guy at all). So I tucked my hands under my legs so that I wouldn’t be able to react like that again. He told me to take some deep breaths, and then he stabbed the needle (in from the top) through my navel. It hurt very, very badly, and I’m assuming it hurt so badly because he did not pierce it from the bottom, up (which I’ve heard hurts a lot less) and also because I have very little fat on my stomach. After it was over, I remained lying down for a minute or two to be sure that I wouldn’t pass out. When I left the piercing salon, my navel was only hurting a little bit, and after that it never hurt unless I bumped it on something. It has been almost a year (I got it done in October so that it would be healed by the summer) and I am still glad I got it. I’ve been able to find many cute navel rings for my piercing, and I enjoy showing them off when I go swimming :)

Im 19 and ive been wanting one done for a long time but my parents were pretty strict, so i got it done this year cos ive moved out to a flat this year for uni. The needle looked massive as the piercer took it out of the packaging i just decided not to look at all cos i thought if i saw that goddamn needle go into my skin id get really nervous. Good thing was that i was feeling a little slow from all the drinking previous couple nights and a hangover so my brain was probably a little desensitized at that time, preventing me from getting too worked up and nervous about it. It hurt when the needle went in, the procedure was very fast but i could feel the flesh tissues ripping (ugh). That was jsut a few days ago and my body is being very nice with the piercing, its not even red around it and doesnt hurt much either, im just hoping that id clean it a lot and properly and it wont get any infections til it heals. Looks really nice and im now just addicted to buying and collecting different designs of banana bars :D

I was so excited to finally get my belly piercedt. I had been begging mum & dad to let me get it done for 2 weeks. I went to Hair Housewhere house to get it done, everyone with their belly’s pierced said they are a great place to go and they hardly get infected from there. I went and sat on the bed when the lady and my mum filled out the forms because im under 16. She got my to lay down and she marked my belly where the needle will go. I chose my colour gem (pink). then she goes this is the part which hurts she got the claps. They didnt hurt me at all, i dont have abs or a heeps tight tummy but im not fat either. Then i just felt a pinch and the needle was in. she cut the needle in half then threaded the bar onto it and pulled it through. then she said done! it took about 1.5 minutes and it was over. Ive had it for about 6 months now i change it lots and its never been inftected i use medical soap, spary and salt water to keep it clean in the first couple months.. and if it ever hurts. Make sure when you buy belly rings/bars they are surgical steel. :)

I got my belly button pierced about a month before I turned 15 and on a day a took of school ( my dads real great about that). I’d been wanting to get it done for ages, I’d even gone into a piercing place to get it done and then left cause i was scared. Well about a month after that I’d been looking at places on the internet to get it done and I found a place I liked, so I went and asked my dad and he was like okay lets go today. So we went to the piercing studio and the guy there told me the procedure and had me pick out a belly bar ( I choose a really nice aqua barbell). So I sat down in the chair and he said he was going to do my ears first ( I was getting my seconds done as well), so he did those and they hurt heaps. Next he marked my belly and he was really good so he made sure it was perfect and then put the clamp on and pierced it and honestly it hurt way less then my seconds. So now I have my belly done, I love it and I have already started my jewellery collection for it. :)

So i was dared by my rent to get my belly done. I always wanted one from when I was 12 I’m 16 now and I got it done when I was 15. I was so scared when I looked up everyone on YouTube getting it done and see people say only the clap hurts I felt good yo go and get it done I went to the shop to get it. As I was laying on the bed I saw a piercing gum : s I was freaking out iv never heard of someone get it done with a gun. I took a deep breath and it was over thank god it’s been a year now and I took my best friend to a different place to get it done it was all good until she got out from getting it done ( I wasn’t allowed to go in with her) it was bleeding she was crying the worst part was that she ending up in e Ambo coz she was about to faint

My friends and I were all so excited to get our belly pierced. As you do, we picked out the colours and she marked it all out. My friends were in the room for about 5-10 minutes max, but I was there for about 40 minutes. Let me tell you, if you have abs or a well-toned stomach like I do - I do ab workouts every night - then it is reeaaaallly tough and hurts like hell. She also pierced it a tiny bit crooked, and she didn’t even think the gun went in properly. Anyways it’s been 2 months now, and I’m loving it. It still hurts and occasionally gets a little pus. I’m a little worried but I think it’ll be okay.

During Summer Holidays my two best firends and I came up with the idea of getting our belly buttons peirced together. Both of my friend’s parents said yes however mine didn’t they thought that I was two young and said it made people look like white trash. After a month of trying to convince my parents I decided to not push the issue further. The next day I went and held the hands of my two best friends as they got the belly button done. Watching them looking at other belly button rings to buy made me want one even more so I started to ask my parents again. 6 months of pestering and pleaing brought results...At the time my parents were in the process of splitting up and in a weak point they finaly agreed. My gradma had always wanted to take me to get in done, so the next day my sister, grandma and I went off the the tatto and peircing parlor. The guy there was really nice and told me what he was doing. I think the clamp hurt more than the peircing and it was very quick and easy. For my birthday (two months later) my parents suprised me with this georgious belly ring and the news of them getting back together.

It was back in 2007 close to my16th birthday.. I was asking my mum whether i should get it done or not but she said ’its up to you. if you want it done consider it your birthday present. so we went to the local tattoo and piercing studio a few days later. i was looking at the belly bars that were near the piercing room and found the one i liked, it was a bio flex bar with a light blue-grey stone. As soon as i was called into the room i dragged my mum along with me thinking ’oh god this is going to hurt’. but she helped me more that what she thought she could by distracting me then ’jab’. It was the worst pain i’ve ever felt but it was worth it for something so pretty :)

I had wanted a belly button ring for manys years but my husband at the time disliked them intensely, so I couldn’t get one. However the day after our divorce I went to the local tatoo parlour and got one. I’ve had it ever since (12yrs now). It was my divorce present to my self LOL! Cheers Charlotte

I had wanted to get my belly pierced for years, but by my mum’s rule I had to wait until I was 18. I booked the appointment for a few days after my birthday at my local Essential Beauty which is at my local shopping centre where I also work, to be done on my half hour lunch break. 1pm came around, and after taking a few minutes to prepare myself, I met my friends and headed over to get it done. The piercing was was over before I knew it, and barely hurt at all, which was lucky considering I had an afternoon at work to finish. My colleagues could hardly believe I had just got a piercing on my lunch break, and I took frequent toilet trips to admire my new piercing.

the 1st time i got my navel peirced was horrifying. i was 20 and i finally worked up the courage to get it done after years of fantisising. so i went into my local peircings place and all was going well untill the piercer stuck the needle in and couldnt get it through. at first he said it must be because my tummy was to taught. but after about 10 minutes of him pushing and pushing he and another guy who worked there finnally got it through. after 3 years it still had not healed. so i took it out. about 2 years after that i went and had it repeirced. i found out that every time he tried to push the needle through my skin he created a jagged edge since having it repierced i love it and have had no problems watso ever

I had wanted to get my belly button pierced for a few years but had been put off after my mums got infected really badly. anyway i asked friends who had theres done who told me to get it done with titanium and decided to get mine done.I went into the city with my friend and got my belly button pierced. The most painful part was the clamp and it wasnt all that bad. My friend watched me and i think she was more scared than i was (she doesnt even have her ears pierced). When i got home my parents were a bit concerned about infection but i havent had any problems :P

there’s 4 weeks of school left, so me and my friend had said to each other lets get bellys pierced so that way we can swim on the holidays as we’re at boarding school. so we thought out plan was bullet pproof when the dorm mistress said that we were doing a trip to the city. we were so excited, but by wednesday the teacher said it was cancelled. we were so keen to get it done so we asked one of the dorm staff to take us for a day trip to the city, she agreed. we got to the piercing place and my friend went before me, she came out and said it hurt a little. i got really nervous, soon enough i was laying on the bed and the girl was cleaning my belly. then i felt the clamp and she walked away i thought to myself what is she doing she turned around and said are you feeling alright i said i was really nervous about the piercing and she looked at me and laughed and said its done darl. i felt like an idiot because i layed there for about 2 minutes.

was one of the randomest of my teenage life. It’s kind of a right of passage in my family to get your navel pierced in highschool ( both my older sisters, my cousins, ect all have them done), however my Dad is vey old school when it comes to parenting and told all three daughters strictly no body piercings but you know, that’s just asking for trouble anyway on the day... It was bucketing down rain and I had a half day at school, seeing that I had the perfect chance to do some secret shopping,I took the bus into town and ran through the freezing cold rain in my white school shirt...lovely right? feeling about as graceful as a drowned rat, I decided I needed a pick me up, then I walked past this cute little hair and beauty boutique and figured it must be fate. since I’m under 18 they needed an parents approval YAY! mum has the day off work *calls home* me - hey mum can you I get my bel- dad - It’s Dad me *thinks - OMG CRAP* where’s mum? dad - she’s busy me - it’ll take a sec- dad - she’s trying to get the car going me - well go get her dad - what do you want? me - .... it’s errr... girl time issues ? *thinks - how the hell is he going to believe that* dad - ew GOD -- *mumbles in background* mum - what’s going on? are you ok? me - finally I’m getting my navel pierced can you tell the piercer it’s all ok? mum - ohh. yeah it’s cool. me - yay :3 thanks *end of convo* it’s been three monthes and counting and my dad still doesn’t know, what’s worse is that my 26 year sister is worried if he ever found out she has her’s done... and she’s married :\

After about a week of researching information to convince my mom, I was finally allowed to get my tummy pierced. I got it done towards the end of February so I would have plenty of time to heal before the summer season and I wouldn’t have to worry about not going in pools (I’m from the US )). My piercer was really good. Before he did anything, he explained exactly what he was going to do, he opened the packages of sterile piercing equipment right in front of me. I was pierced with a barbell-style ring because my piercer told me that the hoops were too easy to catch on things and would hurt a lot in a new piercing when they did. He was very knowledgeable and made me feel very at ease. He talked to me through the entire time explaining exactly what was happening so I wasn’t worried anything was going wrong. I found that the clamp used to keep the skin still was more painful than the actual piercing--i took a deep breath as instructed and the needle hurt no more than a vaccine, and was over in a matter of seconds. And afterwards, I had a gorgeous navel ring! It bled a little bit, but stopped shortly. It was hardly even sore the day of unless I brushed it or bent over too much. They gave me a brochure about after-care so I’ve taken very good care of it since and it’s healed in 4 1/2 months! I’ve gotten many compliments that it’s very pretty and sexy without being trashy, and I have absolutely no regrets!

it was my 16th birthday and my 18 year old cousin didnt know what to get me so she took me to get my belly button pierced. so it was all well and good and i went and got it done and the girl before me had to get her belly clamped because she was too skinny and toned and she was crying so i went in scared and anyway the guy did it and after i was sitting in the car and my cousin was driving me home and i said you know if i tell my parents theyll kill us and she looked at me and she looked so scared and she called me every name under the sun, anyway we managaed to keep in a secret until about two weeks after i had it done and dad only found out because i was stupid enough to tell my brothers girlfriend at the time who told my brother and my brother told my dad

It’s was a typical sunny SoCal day...walking on the boardwalk w/my husband. We passed by a tattoo shop that also does piercings & he dared me...I’m not one to back down from a dare - so in I went! I’m not a bit squeamish about needles...he on the other hand looked like he was going to pass out! I’ve had it now for 4 years & still totally love it.

We were on holidays in 2008 in Queensland on the Gold Coast. I wanted my belly button pierced desperately but the ’rents’ were a bit cagey over it. In a moment of solidarity - mum took my side and said you are only young once and she said she’d take me for my birthday. We went to a piercing shop in Surfer’s Paradise where I was in my total element! I had a lovely girl talk to mum and I about it all and then she took me into the room and mum came to watch. It was no big deal - a small quick prickle of pain and then I had my bling in my button! I love my belly button piercing and everytime I look at it I remember my 16th birthday and while others where getting theirs done on schoolies... I got to share my special moment with mum xoxo

Well when i decided to get my belly done i was really scared. I went with my best mates to get it done. So i booked my appointment and waited for it to come around. my friends kept telling me nah it dont hurt, it only feels like pinch and all. so at this stage i was feeling pretty confidant. when it came around to the appointment, i walked into the room laided down and braces myself. i felt the piler things grab my belly and thinking aww this must be the pinch. then a few seconds later i felt the needle go in, i flushed all over. thinking it was over i looked and she was getting ready to but the navel in. i was swearing my head off. when i went outside, i seen my friends and this guy i liked. they were laughing at me, because i looked so pale. thats how scared i got ahah .

hmm, where to start??? i was working with a girl a couple of years younger than me, and we had made a deal. when i got my p’s she would get her navel pierced, and when she got her L’s i’d get mine done. well, i got my P’s, she got hers, then she got her L’s. My turn........ i waited until my best friend (who has her navel pierced) came home from uni, and she jumped at the chance to ’take’ me. so we organised a girly day shopping, and fitted in a trip to the piercers whilst out. we went in, had a chat to the girls there, i chose my jewellery and was taken into the room where the piercing was done. they got everything ready, then we started, only for me to stop them when i saw the needle (this actually happened a few times). eventually my friend came in, distracted me (by covering my eyes so i couldn’t see, but her hand was so close to my mouth i kept trying to bite her in jest) and it was all over. just like that. i couldn’t believe how little it hurt. i got up, paid my money and went home, all done, and wondering what all the fuss was about.

It was my 3rd attempt to get my belly pierced. The previous 2 times I bottled it in the waiting room! This time the bloke that does the piercing had come into the waiting room where there was another man waiting to get a tattoo. He looked straight at me and asked haven’t you been here a few times before. I nodded at him to confirm this. Then he laughed and said I take it you bottled it? What you wanting done?. I said that I had bottled it and wanted my belly pierced. He then approached the other man waiting with me and said I hope you don’t mind but I’m going to do her next as she’ll be gone by the time I get back from doing you!!!!. There was no way I could do a runner now so I had to just follow him into his operating room! Literally a few minutes later and feeling really daft, my belly was pierced without feeling a thing. I couldn’t believe that it had taken me 3 goes for all of a few seconds of painfree piercing!

The day i got my navel pierced is the day i felt guilty for lying to my parents about where i was going, but felt sexy half an hour later :D I had always wanted a belly ring but was forbidden to get it done by my parents. So I came up with the idea that it was currently Winter and my parents wouldnt see it because it will always be covered. The next day, I went to a piercer but had told my parents i was going shopping with a friend. While i was shopping, I got my belly pierced and was sooo excited! Then i remembered oh no! im going overseas in the next month and it will be Summer! So my solution was to buy a monokini. But then I thought, oh man im gonna have such a retarded tan line. So I searched up the net for clear belly rings and of course found a clear retainer on TUMMYTOYS! This retainer is awesome! No-one spotted it at the beach with my two piece bikini on! Thank god for tummy toys! Its been a year and a half since I got my navel pierced and for once, my parents are none the wiser!

i had been wanting my belly button pierced for as long as i can remember. id done research and the whole nine yards. and the closest piercing shop (which was and hour away ) didnt allow people under the age od 14 to get their navel pierced. and of course if u were 14 then u had to have ur parents permission. well my birthday is in january so on my 14th bday i asked my mom and she said that if i wanted it done then i could get it, but she warned me that it takes a lot of patience and caring for if i want to keep it. i agreed to it. well that day we went out to dinner with a couple of my moms friends and one of them (well call her sara) had heard about me wanting to get my navel pierced. she had hers done before and she was telling me that it hurt more afterwards than when u actually get it done. she said she barely felt the needle go through. i was feeling a little better after hearing that. id rather have it hurt after than when im getting it done (i have a small needle-phobia). so we get to the piercers shop and i was hoping a girl couldve done it (but of course there were only guys!!!) but ooh well. we filled out the paper work and yada yada blah blah all the pre-piercing bull crap. finally we went into the room and ALL the people in the shop came in to watch! so embarassing. and to make things worse, my mom was recording me!!! the guy told me that the clamps hurt more than anything. and to me the clamps didnt hurt at all. but when he pulled out the lil thing with the needle, i started freaking out. he tried pushing it through, but it wouldnt go in. he just kept trying to shove it through my stomach!! and the whole time im sittin there thinkiing WTF HAVE I GOT MYSELF INTO?!?!?! then he says i think this is the hardest belly button ive ever had to pierce he finally got it through and then he looks at me and says now comes the hard part. putting the ring in didnt feel that great either, but it wasnt near as bad as when the needle wen through. on a scale of 1-10 my pain was a 20. and man was i soooooo excited to have the pain afterwards (not really) but to my surprise i dint feel a thing afterwards. and i still dont unless i bump it on something or if someone tickles me and hits it. i LOVE it and i think the pain was soooooo worth it.

Since where I lived there were no places where I could have my navel pierced, I had to take a bus and go to the closest big city. I had a shower and while getting ready my sister was watching the TV and all of a sudden she yelled OMG! They knocked down the towers!. She was upset and coudln’t understand what she was talking about. It was September 11, 2001. I watched all those images confused but I had to rush to catch the bus. I went there with a friend. We were confused, everyone was confused.Once I got to the city I tried to get more news taking a coffee and asking the bar attender what was going on. No on ecould really understand what had happened. It was a strange feeling, I was puzzled and sad but at the same time I was happy I was getting my navel pierced, which I had been wanting for ages. It’s almost 10 years ago but it’s definitely something I will never forget.

In December of last year I was 17 when my mom and dad took me to get my top navel piercing as my christmas gift, didn’t hurt at all, but healing took forever and now its fine. About 1 month ago I pierced my lower navvel ( Inverse navel ) and its healing sooo much faster than the top did. It also hurt alot less, too, but thats just my opinion. So now I have my tongue, top and lower navel, nipples and ears 8x each all self dont except the top navel. I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO PIERCE THEMSELFS! And always take care of your piercings, don’t play with them.

I got my belly pierced about 3 months ago. I had wanted it done for about a week but my parents wouldn’t let me. I had talked to a few girls at school who had theirs done and they had recommended piercing places and also told me what the procedure was. Then one day after school, I went with my friend to a place which didn’t require parent permission and asked to get my belly pierced. They showed me many belly rings and I chose a blue one. It looked very pretty and made my skin look even more tanned. Then took me into a separate room and left my friend sitting all by herself. In the other room, a nice woman drew a small dot on my belly and asked me to check it in the mirror. I told her that it was fine and then she asked me to sit down on a chair. She then clasped the skin and got out the needle. She poked the needle halfway through my skin. It hurt, but it wasn’t so bad (Getting injections at school was more painfu)l. She then poked the needle through the last half and I watched at the needle pierced through my skin. After the needle went through, a tube of plastic (a bit like a small, thin straw) was left in the hole. The woman then pushed the jewelry through the tube and took the tube out. Then she screwed on the ball and let me see it in the mirror. I was very pleased and it only looked a little bit red. I then walked outside to my friend who was sitting in the waiting room. She was sitting there shaking. She has been even more scared than I was. After a month of having my belly pierced, I told my parents. They were disappointed that I did it behind their backs, but they are forgiving people and have put it behind them now. I love my belly ring SO much! But I would warn other people who are considering it, to be careful. Because they take a long time to heal and also they require a lot of cleaning and patience.

I really only thought about getting my belly pierced about a week before i got it done. I was watching a film clip to a song and i thought they looked really kool so i wanted to get mine done. I was 15 and still am . I told a people at school and they were all really excited for me. I wasnt really nervous when i walked into the room where they pierce it. The piercer was really nice and i reccomend skin fitness in richmond if your interested. It didnt really hurt that much and after she had done it she told me i was the bravest person shed ever pierced because i didnt even say aow. Well i paid for it and everthing seemed fine. Untill i got in the car and we started driving i got really dizzy and evrything looked fuzzy. I felt soo sick! luckily this only lasted a little bit. The next day at school i showed evryone.

Like Millz, I was pregnant when I was finally able to get my belly pierced (you can get it done when you are 16 now in Victoria). I took my boyfriend and daughter with me, but they waited outside. My boyfriend said that he didn’t want our then 4 month old daughter to see the body piercer stick a needle in me and make me bleed, he didn’t want to distress her. He was lucky not to have been in the room, because my belly spurted blood up my top, which I had been holding just above my navel. The body piercer said that happens all the time and not to worry, but I didn’t realy mind - I had my belly pierced! (much to my mum’s chagrin)

i was pregnant when i first realised i wanted a belly piercing but they don’t let you get it done when your pregnant so of course i had to wait. after the baby was born there was so much loose skin and stretch marks that i thought i would never be able to get one. eventually though my stomach started to look a bit more normal (as normal as it can after a baby) and i rushed to the piercer to have it done. my husband and daughter came with me, i wasn’t nervous, i just couldn’t wait. it stung a bit, a very sharp sudden pain and then hurt for a few weeks while healing but i love it now. my stomach isn’t perfect anymore but at least the jewellery looks great.

ha ha, I can relate to you Beka. I had my navel pierced about ten years ago at a tattoo and body piercing place in Penrith. I can’t even remember making the decision, it just happened naturally for me, I guess I was completely drawn to the idea. My mother was horrified but she couldn’t stop me, I was 18. I wasn’t nervous until I was actually laying there looking at the needle but it was all fairly painless and before I knew it my navel was pierced. There was a small pool of blood and the piercer made some jokes about calling an ambulace, my best friend and I were just in hysterics. (although my friend STILL refuses to get hers done after watching mine!)... I walked out of there feeling mighty proud that I had done it and wandered over to the nearby plaza when suddenly I had a dizzy spell come on and had to sit myself right down on the floor in the middle of the plaza! Kinda embarrassing, I looked like a drunk teen sitting there on the plaza floor having some sort of mini-blackout! A few minutes later the dizziness passed and my friends and I all went home. When I got home my mother said at the site of my new piercing oh no, what have you done! ha ha... but to this day I still love my navel piercing!

I remember talking to my girlfriends about piercings, and I remember telling them how my family would hate it if I got any weird body piercings (my mother found the ears as the only non-weird place to pierce yourself). She then told me that I should be my own person, and do what I want, and that I wasn’t a little girl anymore. About a week later, at a party at one of my girlfriend’s house, one of my friends was showing off her knew belly ring. I must admit, I kind of wanted to be in her shoes when everyone around her were bragging about how cool and cute it looked. I decided that I wanted to get double that attention and the next day I called my best friend and told her that I desperately needed to go to Galaxy (the closest piercing place). She was more excited than I was (she has always been very supportive of my decisions). Once we got to Galaxy, they offered to help us with whatever we needed... My bestfriend opened her huge mouth and said she wanted to get her belly button pierced. I thought i was going to be the only cool one to get a piercing that day. But it was okay, because i decided to get my belly and my tongue pierced! After that I went home and I could barely even talk. My mother picked a perfect time to start long conversations with me (not). I was desperately trying not to talk, when she finally realized I was talking funny. She told me to open my mouth and to avoid a slap on the face I did as she told. She instantly told me to remove the piercing and to throw it away. She couldn’t stop yelling at me, and she was studying my body so carefully while she yelled at me. I guess it was the tight tank top I was wearing that day that helped her discover my other precious piercing. I went to bed more pissed off than I’ve ever been. It has only been a few months since then, but I finally made my mom realize that piercings aren’t as bad as she thinks. Just because you make holes in your body, doesn’t mean that it makes you a bad person. So now I have 15 Piercings including my lip, navel, and nose(don’t worry, most of my piercings are in my ears ).

I took my mum and my sister along the day I got my belly done. My sister came to laugh at me as she was convinced I'd cry, scream or faint. I sat down the the technician, picked out my bar, and laid down on the bench. The tech and I were having a mad chat about Christmas being 2 days away, when she infomed me I was pierced - I didnt believe her as I didnt feel a thing and whacked my stomach to make sure she was telling the truth. As I jumped off the bench to show my sister I nearly wet myself laughing - she had gone gray and clammy, on the verge of passing out herself just watching me get my tummy pierced! Haha thats karma for you!

i was so excited, i was taking my new boyfriend with me.. i was going to show him that i wasn't a wuss. It all seemed to go seemingly well, i didn't cry, not even a tear.. i squeezed his hanad mighty hard though! When all was done and paid for, we walked out of the shop and my bf told me how surprised he was that i didn't cry and make a scene, ha ha. That exact minute, just outside the shop, i fainted! So embarrassing!!
